These are big boy panels. Commercial 545 watts each. They are just big enough and just heavy enough to be a pain in the ass. 😄😄🙄
We had some decent cloud cover yesterday-but it disappeared around noon, and record highs, record dryness, and too many long days recently in the sun and wind out here had us cooked.
It was 109 degrees in the shade-and we didn’t have shade. And at this higher elevation, the sun is next level intense, and 100 degrees is a lot “hotter” than at lower elevations.
All of which made us to decide to call it a day and utilize the upgraded AC and blackout blinds in our trailer and hide out and sleep the heat of the day away.
Tuesday evening we got up and worked several more hours.
By dark we finally had two lonely panels installed on the array racking.

We worked into the night, putting the auger drive back onto the excavator to install two ground screws we had along for a special job just in case the weather got hot.

We got the screws installed with our secret weapons mounted to them and wrapped up and crawled into bed just after 9 pm for some desperately needed sleep.

2am this morning saw us crawling out of bed and struggling to wake up. That was rough, but it was beautiful and cool out and it was a relief to not be in the blazing sun.
Our “secret weapons” are these 30’ poles with 400 watts each led lights mounted to them for night ops. They are our economy version of a light plant. They are also very portable.

As the sky was starting to lighten in the east, we were working some kinks out of our installation process and had made a little progress.

Daybreak saw slow progress, but we were just hitting our stride and things were starting to go together smoothly and quickly.

Sunup had us with a third of the panels of the first array installed.
We headed to the trailer for a quick breakfast break and braced ourselves for the coming heat of the day.
