-The Freightshaker dropped an injector on the way home from our last big job and went into limp mode. I wasn’t terribly worried as I had planned for this motor going out and had purchased a “good running “ backup motor some time back to deal with this eventuality. Unfortunately, when we got to inspecting the back up motor that I have had it turns out it needs a full rebuild as well because it looks like it had head gasket issues and cylinder number one is full of rust.
We have been dealing with trying to figure out our way to navigate through having that truck down and the rather expensive cost of rebuilding either engine. Turns out that repair bill starts at about 30 K. Not really having that much free cash on hand to just throw at the truck, and not sure we want to, we decided to just throw a new injector at the motor that is in the truck while we decide how to deal with a backup motor that was not ready to be installed. We are currently looking at purchasing another truck to use as a donor, perhaps rebuilding one of the engines, or some other option that we have yet to think of.
Anyone got a line on a good running and cheap Cummins M11? Or a whole new semi service truck? 😬 😬 😄🤷♂️
-Meanwhile, our backup truck-Ol’ Yeller- has been down with an injection pump that needed rebuilt for about a year and a half. I won’t go into the details of why such a simple repair has taken a year and a half, but let’s just say I got hosed over by a pump rebuilder and it has been a nightmare.
So out of three service trucks that we own, for the last two months, two of them have been broken and not usable.🙄
-There have been a handful of other things, jobs, and issues going on that have been very time consuming.
Anyway, on to something kinda fun.
A couple weeks ago, I turned Denise’s F-350 back over to her and I got to saddle up in Ol’ Yeller for the first time in over two years.
Who is Ol’ Yeller you ask?
Let me introduce you:
I’ll let some more pictures do the talking:
No, we don’t have a DeWalt sponsorship. 😄😄
But I feel like we should. 😬
Maybe DeWalt needs a show truck?
Anyway, we hauled out of the yard early one morning with Ol’ Yeller-who was FINALLY back in action, and the F-350 to go wrap up that carwash airline project.
I feel like maybe the carwash could use this truck as a mascot-it’s the right color!😄😄
Here’s Denise playing with pipe again. 😄😄🤷♂️
Needless to say, our pipe threader, pipe vice, and wrenches got a real workout on this job. We did finally complete it and the whole Car Wash now has compressed air and mat stations to blow out floor mats, mirrors, interiors, etc.
