This hand hole was tiny and deep, and my arms were barely long enough to reach to do all the splicing that needed to be done-which I had to do all one handed. I didn’t get a picture of of the final results-but the hole was pretty full by the time I was done.
Here’s Denise pulling wire out of a panel so that we could use it to temporarily power the well pump.
Once that was done, we were just waiting for our friends the engineers from Discovey Energy to come out and help us test the system.
In the meantime, a videographer showed up so we were busy shooting some b roll and interview footage with him.
The engineers finally showed up well after noon after being delayed in town on some other business.
The first thing we discovered was the inverters were not communicating properly, so a call to the inverter company tech support was in order.
Things went sideways there-somehow tech support pushed a bad file to both of the inverter WiFi dongles and bricked them into an unusable and unrecoverable state. 😬😬
That took several hours to wade through, and at the end of it the inverters were still functioning, but with no way to communicate with them, testing and programming took a LOT longer. 🙄
The good news is, we eventually got the inverters to play nice with the generator, and the well pump worked flawlessly with the inverters, so everyone was very happy with that!👍👍
The bad news was, by the time we got that all verified, it was cold and dark out, and we would have to do a bunch of unexpected work on Friday.
Much to the amusement of all of our visitors, Denise decorated our inverter gutter for Halloween. 🎃 👻😄😄
With the day over, Denise and I headed into town for dinner and drinks with the Discover crew.
Friday found us undoing all the temporary wiring, putting wires back so that the well pump could still function with just the generator, trying to start the ball rolling with all the parts and paperwork needed to get the change order we needed to complete the project, loading up both trucks, and heading home.
It was a long day and we rolled into the shop sometime after 5.
Monday has us still try to get everything lined up to get this project and it’s change order completed this week.
So far it has been a challenge, and it remains to be seen if we will be able to go back Wednesday and wrap things up like we have planned. 🤷♂️
