We stepped out of the work trailer just before 6am yesterday morning into a soggy job site with rain coming down and lightning flashing off all over the place. The thunder cracking all around just put an exclamation point to the whole scene.
The storm had indeed arrived, and arrived early.
I ran around the job site in my rain slicker, giving everything one last check, and snapping a couple pictures.
Then we finished loading the Freightshaker, piled in and began making our way west to Paulden to work in a place hopefully less wet so we could keep things going.
Holy crap!!
It’s a miracle!
For once I’m not driving INTO the blinding orb of visual discomfort! ☀️☀️😄😄
We broke out of the rain just outside of Flagstaff and the rest of the trip was dry, quiet and smooth.
We left a rainy world, traveled two hours west and landed in a place that was bright, sunny, and even a little too warm. 😄😄🤷♂️
We were still racing the storm though-the forecast kept shifting around, but there was no doubt the rain was coming. It was just a matter of when.
We did mostly normal electrical things-like installing power and outlets on this kitchen island.
Wrapped up the installation of some security cameras.
Added a few circuits and removed and replaced a few breakers that were nuisance tripping in this laundry room panel that some of you may recognize even though it is now in a room painted baby blue.
Some of you may recognize this room where we spent quite a bit of time many months ago. It looks very nice now with the floor installed the paint done the light fixtures and the kitchen mostly complete.👍👍
I went around and checked on the solar power system and installed a few last-minute stickers and placards that had never gotten put on in preparation for a final inspection. The system has been up and running for something like three years, but has never received a final inspection due to other delays on the job.
Fun with floor outlets!
It was a long day, but the weather cooperated right up until we were packing up to leave when the rain finally showed up at just after 6 PM.
We loaded our sorry carcasses up into the freight shaker and pointed the truck west towards home. We hit heavy rain all the way up to 89 and finally broke into the clear headed west on the I 40. The trip home was dark and long as we were both very tired. We got home, showered and had a snack and crashed into bed about 9 PM.
In four days time each one of us had logged about 60 work hours on the two different jobs.
